Resumen
Cada año
se invierten cuantiosos recursos en el estudio, diagnóstico y tratamiento del
cáncer; enfermedad que no solo ha pasado a ser la segunda causa de muerte en
Cuba y otros países, sino que posiblemente se convierta en pandemia mundial en
el siglo XXI. Alrededor de 5 a 10
% de todas las neoplasias diagnosticadas
anualmente corresponden a cáncer hereditario, de modo que constituyen la clave para
poder detectar una tendencia congénita a la aparición de neoplasmas en miembros
de una familia concreta. El desarrollo de la genética comunitaria en el país ha
permitido realizar acciones de salud para identificar a grupos familiares predispuestos
hereditariamente a padecer cáncer de mama, colon y próstata, por lo cual los
asesores genéticos deben estar preparados para brindar a estas personas un
adecuado asesoramiento en ese sentido, cuyos aspectos generales se perfilan en
el presente trabajo.

Genetic advice in oncology
abstract
Every year considerable resources are invested in the study, diagnosis and treatment of cancer; a disease that not only has become the second cause of death in Cuba and other countries, but also it possibly will become a world pandemia at the XXI century. About 5 % to 10 % of all the neoplasias diagnosed annually are due to inherited cancer, so they are the key to detect a congenital tendency to the occurrence of neoplasms in members of a family. The development of the community genetics in the country has allowed to take health actions to identify family groups with predisposition to suffer from breast, colon and prostate cancers, that is why the genetic advisers should be prepared to give an appropriate advice for these people in this respect, which general aspects are shown in this paper.
