Con la finalidad de valorar la ventaja económica de la
corrección quirúrgica de la ptosis palpebral congénita severa mediante la
técnica de fijación frontal con la aguja en “patín de nieve”, se realizó un
estudio descriptivo y retrospectivo de 112 ojos de 89 niños con edades entre 2 - 14 años, durante el período
comprendido desde julio del 2002 hasta diciembre del 2006, en el Hospital
Infantil Sur de Santiago de Cuba. La
aplicación del procedimiento permitió reducir la estadía hospitalaria, al
disminuir marcadamente el sangrado, edema, tiempo quirúrgico y riesgo de
infección posoperatoria, con lo cual se ahorraron 3 586,70 pesos a la economía del país. No se produjo complicación
alguna que afectara el resultado estético deseado.

With the purpose of evaluating the economic advantage of the surgical correction of the severe congenital lid ptosis by means of the technique of frontal fixation with the needle in "skate for snow", a descriptive and retrospective study of 112 eyes (89 children), with ages from 2 - 14 years was carried out, during the period from July, 2002 to December, 2006, in the Southern Pediatric Hospital from Santiago de Cuba. The application of the procedure allowed to reduce the hospital stay, as it markedly decreases bleeding, edema, surgical time and risk of postoperative infection. This procedure saved 3 586, 70 pesos to the economy of the country. There was no complication affecting the expected aesthetic result.
