Mucho se ha escrito sobre la historia de la oftalmología
en el mundo y en Cuba, pero en ningún documento aparecen recogidos los acontecimientos
que han marcado su devenir histórico en Santiago de Cuba, de manera que en este
se ha perseguido dejar constancia de su evolución desde antes de 1959 hasta la
fecha.

It has been written a lot about the history of ophthalmology all over the world and in Cuba, but in any document we can find the events which marked its historical evolution in Santiago de Cuba, therefore, we have tried to show evidence of the ophthalmology evolution since 1959 up to the present time.
