Antonio Béguez César, nacido en Santiago de Cuba en 1895 y fallecido en su ciudad natal en 1976, considerado como el Padre de la Pediatría en las provincias orientales, fue el autor del artículo titulado “Neutropenia crónica maligna familiar con granulaciones atípicas de los leucocitos”, publicado en el Boletín de la Sociedad Cubana de Pediatría en enero de 1943, donde se evidencia la autoría en el descubrimiento de esta rara enfermedad.

Antonio Béguez César was born in Santiago de Cuba in 1895 and he died in his native city in 1976. He was considered the Pediatrics' Father in the eastern provincies and the author of the work entitled " Family malignant chronic neutropenia with atypical granulations of the white blood cells", published in the bulletin of the Cuban Society of Pediatrics in January, 1943, which made evident his authorship in the discovery of this strange disease.
