Las drogodependencias constituyen un fenómeno de gran impacto sanitario, económico, legal y político. En el presente artículo se aportan sucintamente conceptos básicos generales, clasificación de las drogas según la Organización Mundial de la Salud, complicaciones orgánicas, factores de riesgo y consecuencias sociales de su consumo.

Drug dependence constitutes a phenomenon of a great political, legal, economic and health impact. In the present article general basic concepts, drug classification according to the World Health Organization, and medical complications, risk factors and social implications with its use are briefly described.
